MIAMI (Legal Newsline) - A Texas surveillance system company alleged in a lawsuit filed on Thursday that another technology company's patent is partially invalid.
Video Insight filed the lawsuit in Florida where Hawk Technology Systems is based. Hawk Technology owns a patent that was issued in April 1997, and reissued in 1999 and 2012.
The Video Monitoring and Conferencing System patent has been the subject of 60 infringement lawsuits filed by Hawk Technology.
A couple of the lawsuits are against companies that have used surveillance equipment made by Video Insight. Video Insight alleges its products do not infringe on Hawk Technology's patent.
The lawsuit seeks a ruling that Video Insight isn't infringing on the patent and that portions of the patent are invalid.
The company is represented by Johanna Oliver Rousseaux and Geoffrey Gavin of Jones Day.
