WATERLOO, Iowa (Legal Newsline) – A new poll shows Democratic U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley beating his Republican rival, state Sen. Joni Ernst, by a single point in the race for Iowa’s open U.S. Senate seat.
The Loras College survey, released Tuesday, is in contradiction to several polls released earlier this month that had Ernst leading by several points.
An Oct. 15 USA Today poll showed Iowa voters favor Ernst over Braley by a 47-to-43 percent margin. Released on the same day, a Quinnipiac University survey had Ernst with a two-point lead, with likely voters favoring her over Braley by a 47-45 margin.
The Loras poll shows likely voters favoring Braley over Ernst by a 45-44 margin.
The poll further found 8.2 percent remained undecided with 2.3 percent selecting other.
The survey was conducted with a random sample of registered voters who voted in the 2012 general election or have registered since the 2012 election and has a +/- 2.93 percent margin of error.
