Former Federal Circuit judge to speak at IP conference

MOON BAY, Calif. (Legal Newsline) - Judge Paul Michel, retired chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, will deliver the keynote address at an upcoming intellectual property summit.



Corporate finance advisor Duff & Phelps Corporation is hosting its inaugural IP Value Summit at the The Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, Calif., Nov. 5-6.


The event will focus on strategies for optimizing intellectual property across multiple disciplines, including valuation and mergers and acquisitions, tax and transfer pricing, and licensing and litigation.


The summit will feature discussions on best practices and the challenges and opportunities in valuing, managing, monetizing, structuring and protecting intellectual property assets.


Michel, who served more than 20 years on the Federal Circuit, which handles all U.S. patent appeals, retired in 2010. He is considered an expert on IP law.
