Incumbent holds a 12-point lead over GOP Challenger in Vermont governor race

MONTPELIER, Vt. (Legal Newsline) – The Democratic incumbent is leading his Republican challenger by double digits in Vermont’s gubernatorial race.

Gov. Peter Shumlin is leading entrepreneur Scott Milne by a 48 to 36 percent margin, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released Friday.

Milne won the right to face Shumlin in the general election Tuesday, beating out two fellow Republicans to capture his party’s nomination.

In the Democratic primary, Shumlin defeated Brooke Page.

Rasmussen Reports conducted the survey of 700 likely voters in Vermont on Aug. 28-29. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
