TOPEKA, Kan. (Legal Newsline) - Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt filed a lawsuit on Friday against a transient asphalt paving company for allegedly violating the Kansas Consumer Protection Act.
The Louisiana-based Allied Paving and Construction allegedly defrauded at least two Kansas consumers by going door-to-door in northeast Kansas, offering to pave parking lots and driveways.
Also named in the lawsuit were Scott Alan Gilmore, Floyd Jerry Robert, Robert Wayne Williams, Louis Holder Raymond, Forrest Dewayne Jackson and Morris E. Herrin, Jr.
The defendants allegedly failed to disclose all of their charges at the time of sale and failed to tell consumers their rights under the Kansas Consumer Protection Act. They allegedly engaged in the deceptive business practices in Morris, Wabaunsee and Shawnee counties.
Schmidt filed the lawsuit in Shawnee County District Court and obtained a court order to seize the companies assets while litigation is pending. Schmidt used the order to seize vehicles and equipment owned by the company.
