Caldwell
BATON ROUGE, La. (Legal Newsline) - The Louisiana attorney general has sued a Jefferson Parish-based online retailer after complaints that the owner was fraudulently running an infant and young girls' dress store.
Louisiana Attorney General James D. "Buddy" Caldwell filed suit against Danielle Swell Heigle, Smocked Steal of the Day and Classy Sassy Girls in the 19th Judicial Court on Aug. 10.
The defendant is accused of selling dresses through Facebook while never providing the items to the purchaser, failing to respond to consumer complaints regarding their purchases and failing to timely reimburse consumers for undelivered products.
Heigle is a citizen of Jefferson Parish, the suit claims. Smocked Steal of the Day, doing business as Classy Sassy Girls, is an organization that sells infant and young girls' dresses.
A majority of the complaints were satisfied, according to the attorney general's office.
Caldwell's suit proposes a voluntary compliance assurance agreement settlement. Under the agreement, the respondents would not admit to any violations of law.
The suit states that further civil action would be taken if the respondents fail to fully comply with the proposed assurance of voluntary compliance.
The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Wilson Fields.
