Mo. AG announces judgment in hazardous waste case

Koster

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster announced on Thursday that he has obtained a judgment against a Greene County couple for alleged violations of the Missouri Hazardous Waste Management Law.

Tim and Cathleen Coffman allegedly operated an unlawful electronic scrap business that disposed of hazardous waste improperly. Under the terms of the judgment, the Coffmans must pay a $20,000 civil penalty and are prohibited from future violations of the Hazardous Waste Management Law.

"Electronics must be recycled in a way that protects human health and the environment," Koster said.

"There are numerous electronic recyclers in our state who operate their businesses according to law. They should not have to compete with the illegitimate recyclers."
