Rosenblum
SALEM, Ore. (Legal Newsline) - Ellen Rosenblum was sworn in Friday, making her Oregon's first woman attorney general.
Last month, Gov. John Kitzhaber appointed Rosenblum to serve as the state's interim attorney general.
She replaces former Attorney General John Kroger, who left his post late last month to become the head of Reed College, a private, independent liberal arts college in Portland.
Kroger had announced in October he would not seek another term as the state's top lawyer, citing an unspecified illness.
Rosenblum, a Democrat like Kroger and a former appeals court judge, will now occupy the Attorney General's Office while campaigning for her election in November.
Portland attorney James Buchal, a GOP write-in candidate, is her opponent.
