Mo. AG files suit against Queen City Emporium

Koster

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed a lawsuit on Monday against a defunct Springfield company and its former president for allegedly engaging in multiple violations of state consumer protection laws.

Scrapscrap Inc., doing business as The Queen City Emporium, and Jayne E. Wilson, its former president, allegedly failed to deliver monthly statements to consignors as promised, failed to make payments to consignors after selling their merchandise and failed to return the consignors' unsold items.

The Queen City Emporium operated by Wilson was a retail store selling handmade items, including art work, healthcare products, food items, clothing and jewelry, starting business at least as early as March 1, 2010. The store obtained the merchandise by examining internet sites on which sellers sold merchandise. Wilson then solicited sellers into agreements with The Queen City Emporium to sell the sellers' merchandise on a consignment basis.

The lawsuit seeks full restitution for those harmed by Wilson and her company, in addition to court costs and civil penalties. Koster is requesting that the court grant a permanent injunction prohibiting Wilson and the company from selling merchandise on consignment. In addition, the lawsuit seeks to ban the defendants from violating the consumer protection laws of Missouri.
