PHOENIX (Legal Newsline) - Former Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard has joined the law firm of SNR Denton as senior counsel in its public policy and regulation practice.
Goddard, who will work out of the firm's Phoenix office, is the third state attorney general to join SNR Denton in the last year.
In June, former Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum joined the firm's Washington office and former Indiana Attorney General Jeff Modisett joined the firm's Los Angeles office. Both are leading the firm's state attorneys general practice.
According to the law firm, the practice offers clients a team with direct experience in managing the nuances of an attorney general matter, spotting trends ahead of potential investigations, responding to investigative inquiries, and "meeting the challenges of litigation where law, policy and politics converge."
"The expansion of our state attorneys general practice has been a priority for the firm, and Terry's record of accomplishment in Arizona will offer significant added depth," McCollum said in a statement Monday.
Modisett agreed.
"We are very pleased to have Terry as the latest member of our growing team, and his experience in public service as a regulator, prosecutor and strategist will bring a wealth of knowledge to our clients," he said.
According to the firm, Goddard will be advising clients on consumer protection, financial services, environmental and anti-money laundering issues. He also will be a part of its state attorneys general practice.
Goddard, who served as attorney general from 2003 to 2011, also spent seven years as Arizona state director for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
A graduate of Harvard College and Arizona State University, he has taught graduate courses on urban affairs and other topics at Arizona State and Columbia Law School.
"I am pleased to join SNR Denton and look forward to working alongside their top-notch lawyers and professionals," Goddard said in a statement.
Former Wyoming Attorney General Bruce Salzburg reportedly also has found a new home.
According to WyoFile, Salzburg has joined the international law firm of Crowell and Moring LLP.
Salzburg is listed as senior counsel of the firm's environmental and natural resources group, operating out of Cheyenne, Wyo.
He joins former Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal, who appointed Salzburg to the attorney general post in August 2007.
"I'm pleased to be working alongside Bruce once again," Freudenthal said in a statement.
"As Wyoming's attorney general, he was a trusted advisor and a tireless advocate for our state. He will bring his extensive trial and litigation experience to Crowell and Moring's clients, particularly in the energy and natural resources field where we continue to grow in the West."
Salzburg, who holds degrees from the University of Miami in Florida, was succeeded by current Attorney General Greg Phillips, who was appointed in 2011.
