Swanson
ST. PAUL, Minn. (Legal Newsline) -- Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson has cut ties with Minneapolis-based law firm Dorsey & Whitney as the state's bond counsel.
According to Minnesota Lawyer's news blog, the firm served as bond counsel for Minnesota for years.
Swanson's office says the decision came after a state government shutdown in July.
The firm had ethical problems in representing state agencies and, in turn, had to seek numerous waivers from the state, the blog reported.
The Attorney General's Office also says money played a role. The firm refused to lower its hourly rates, a spokesperson told MinnLawyer Blog.
Omaha-based law firm Kutak Rock has since replaced Dorsey & Whitney.
