PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Legal Newsline) -- Former Rhode Island Attorney General Patrick Lynch announced this week he will advise the Coalition for Educational Success on its development of higher education standards.
The coalition includes many of the nation's leading career colleges, serving more than 350,000 students at 478 campuses in 41 states.
The coalition advocates for policies that support wider access to higher education, particularly for non-traditional students, including full-time workers, workforce returners, working parents, minorities and veterans.
"Mr. Lynch has extensive experience working with stakeholders to protect students at all levels of higher education. We look forward to receiving his counsel on how to create the highest possible Standards of Responsible Conduct and ensure that career college students receive quality education and job training," Penny Lee, managing director of the coalition, said in a statement Tuesday.
Lynch said the standards will improve and ensure transparency, disclosure, training, and provide strong new protections for students.
"Higher education is presented with a unique opportunity to raise the bar for student outcomes at all institutions. I look forward to working with educators, students, states attorneys general, career colleges and others in the development of a roadmap for quality outcomes," he said in a statement.
Lynch served as attorney general from 2003 to 2010.
A 1987 graduate of Brown University, he earned his law degree from Suffolk University Law School.
