NEW YORK (Legal Newsline) - An employee of the New York Attorney General's Office is leaving to work as an associate general counsel at Goldman Sachs, according to a Wall Street Journal blog.
A spokesman for the company told the Journal's Law Blog on Tuesday that David Markowitz will be a senior member of its litigation and regulatory proceedings group.
Markowitz, a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., and New York University, served as the head of the investor protection bureau for New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is leaving the office in January after being elected as governor.
Before that, Markowitz worked at the New York office of the Securities and Exchange Commission and, prior to that, as a litigation associate at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP in Manhattan.
