Mississippi begins receiving diaper money

Hood

JACKSON, Miss. (Legal Newsline) - Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood has turned over to Medicaid the first $100,000 of a June 9 settlement with a home care company that was charged with incorrectly billing Medicaid.

Thrift Home Care, Inc., agreed to repay the Division of Medicaid $217,330 for claims that were allegedly not properly reimbursable in billing that took place between Jan. 1, 2002-Dec. 31, 2009.

"A review of this case showed that the company used the wrong billing code for disposable diapers and billed Medicaid for the cost of adult diapers instead of the child-sized diapers which were actually used," Hood said.

The company will pay back the remaining money in installments.

Thrift Home Care Inc., in addition to repaying the money, must also pay $100,000 in penalties and investigative costs.
