BATON ROUGE, La. (Legal Newsline) - An injunction has been obtained by Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell against several moving companies and their operators for numerous violations of the state's Unfair Trade Practice and Consumer Protection Law.
The injunction, obtained from the State District Judge Pro Tempore William C. Credo III, enjoins Louisiana Moving & Storage, Inc., BLO, Inc., and White Haul Movers, LLC, from doing business. The companies' affiliated operators and agents, William H. Oakland II, William H. Oakland III, William O. Knowles Jr., and Ricky J. Lerille are also enjoined from operating.
Issued by the 24th Judicial District Court in Jefferson Parish, the order also requires the moving companies and their operators to allow customers. free of charge, to pick up their goods currently being held by them.
The companies and their operators are alleged to have held the goods of customers hostage and demanded higher prices that those originally quoted to their customers, among numerous other violations of Louisiana Unfair Trade Practice and Consumer Protection Law.
