SALEM, Ore. (Legal Newsline)-An administrative law judge for the Oregon Public Utility Commission is vying this year for a seat on the state Supreme Court.
Judge Allan Arlow is running for the high court's Position 5, which will be vacated by the retirement of Justice W. Michael "Mick" Gillette.
Arlow, 65, presides over regulatory proceedings for the Public Utility Commission and the Bonneville Power Administration.
Also running for the seat is Oregon Court of Appeals Judge Jack Landau, who announced his candidacy this month.
Landau, 56, was first appointed to the Oregon Court of Appeals in 1993. He served as deputy state attorney general from 1991 to 1993.
He earned his law degree from Northwestern School of Law. Arlow is Georgetown Law School graduate.
The election will be held in Oregon's May primary. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two candidates will have a run off in the November general election.
