WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline) - Former District of Columbia Attorney General Linda Singer is heading to Cohen Milstein, a plaintiffs firm known for its class action lawsuits.
Singer is heading the firm's new Public Client Practice, which was created to assist state attorneys general. Singer had worked at Zuckerman Spaeder and recently authored an amicus brief on behalf of six members of Congress in a U.S. Supreme Court case that gave state attorneys general the power to sue national banks.
"The Public Client Practice is an important addition to Cohen Milstein, bringing to bear our extensive experience combating wrongdoing through sophisticated securities, antitrust, civil rights, and consumer litigation," Cohen Milstein Partner Joseph M. Sellers said.
Singer's former chief of staff Betsy Miller is joining her at the firm too.

Singer is currently representing state attorneys general in investigations and litigation involving mortgage lending, prescription drug sales and state tax issues.
Singer resigned from her attorney general post in 2007 after less than a year on the job. She did not give a reason for leaving.
