Delaney sworn in as N.H. AG

Lynch

CONCORD, N.H. (Legal Newsline) - Gov. John Lynch on Monday swore in New Hampshire's new attorney general, Michael Delaney.

Delaney was formerly Lynch's counsel, a deputy attorney general and chief of the Homicide Unit in the Attorney General's Office. He replaces Republican Kelly Ayotte, who left her post in July to pursue a U.S. Senate seat in 2010.

Delaney has also worked on business litigation at Manchester's Wiggin & Nourie.

"I look forward to continue working with Mike Delaney on import issues facing our state," Lynch said.

"He is widely respected across state government for his work with legislators, state agencies and law enforcement and he will be an outstanding attorney general."

Ayotte took her share of criticism this summer after she sought re-appointment for another five-year term from Lynch four months before stepping down.

New Hampshire's Democrats will pit Paul Hodes, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, against the Republicans in 2010.

Delaney received his bachelor's degree in political science from Holy Cross in 1991, then his law degree from Georgetown University in 1994.
