Donahue named chair of NAAG task force

Tom Corbett

HARRISBURG, Pa. (Legal Newsline) - James Donahue, III, head of the Pennsylvania attorney general's antitrust section, was named on Friday as the new chair of the National Association of Attorneys General Multistate Antitrust Task Force.

Responsibilities of the task force include coordinating multistate antitrust cases and advocating competition before federal and state courts and administrative agencies.

"Jim has dedicated his legal career to saving consumers millions of dollars while preserving competition in the marketplace," Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett said. "Jim's vast experience and leadership skills will make him a valuable asset to this task force."

NAAG is comprised of the antitrust sections from each state's attorney general's office and works in coordination with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.

Previously holding the position of vice chair of the task force, Donahue was selected by Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray and Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster, who co-chair the NAAG Antitrust Committee.

Donahue joined the Pennsylvania attorney general's office in 1985 and was promoted to the chief of the attorney general's antitrust section in 1997.

The Republican AG believes that Donahue's experience makes him the perfect choice to chair the task force.

"Jim's years of antitrust enforcement experience and his thoughtful approach to the issues confronting state antitrust enforcers make him a great choice for task force chair," Corbett said. "His passion, dedication and hard work have helped make Pennsylvania a better place for our citizens; and I am certain that these virtues will serve him well as he tackles these new responsibilities."
