HARRISBURG, Pa. (Legal Newsline) - Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett announced Friday that his office is filing a lawsuit against a Scranton photographer and his business over allegations he violated the Consumer Protection Act.
The lawsuit comes on the heels of an investigation that he says revealed Brian Davies and his business, Images by Brian Davies, charged customers for wedding photography services, as well as videos and high school class photos, but failed to deliver the final product.
Along with the suit, the state's Bureau of Consumer Protection has obtained an injunction mandating anyone associated with Davies turn over all wedding photographs, albums, prints, digital recordings, video records and other materials.
"Weddings and other special events are once-in-a-lifetime occasions for most families and these photos and videos are irreplaceable items," Corbett said.
"This lawsuit seeks to recover these precious keepsakes and put them back in the hands of consumers."
The court order prohibits Davies from accepting consumer payment for any services already contracted and prevents him from entering into any new contracts, according to Corbett.
The order also prohibits Davies from destroying documents, freezing bank assets, and entering into new contracts.
A hearing is set for Tuesday.
