ATLANTA (Legal Newsline) - With Thurbert Baker leaving office to run for governor, Cobb County Commission Chairman Sam Olens is attempting to replace him in the Attorney General's Office.
Olens announced Tuesday that he will seek the Republican nomination in 2010, noting that he could not run for governor because campaigning in a crowded field would take too much of his attention from his current job.
"I have the ability to continue serving our great county, spending maybe a day a week running for attorney general now, spend much time on weekend campaigning," Olens said, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"You have to be able to do the job you have now."
Olens graduated from Emory University Law School and has been a member of Ezor & Olens since 1983.
Olens was elected chairman of the commission in Aug. 2002.
