Washington AG challenger hits McKenna with ad

John Ladenburg (D)

OLYMPIA, Wash. (Legal Newsline)-The Democratic attorney general candidate in Washington has begun airing his first campaign ad this week.

Democrat John Landenburg is challenging Republican Attorney General Rob McKenna in November.

The ad, which the Landenburg campaign says will run up until Election Day, takes aim at McKenna's stance on abortion and an investigation into oil prices.

"Attorney General Rob McKenna isn't honest with us," the ad says. "He told reporters he would uphold a woman right to chose but them told fellow Republicans that he wanted the kind of Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade."

The ad continues: "He did the same thing with gas prices, scoring headlines for a so-called investigation, but now we know he didn't investigate anything. In fact, he sided with the big oil companies."

Ladenburg, the Pierce County executive, has criticized McKenna, a moderate Republican, also for using the attorney general's office to boost his public profile at the expense of the Evergreen State's most pressing problems.
