ST. PAUL, Minn. (Legal Newsline)-Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox on Monday took aim at Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's positions on Iraq and domestic oil drilling.
"Do you want a commander-in-chief or a panderer-in-chief? And that's what this election is all about," Cox said in a speech to the Michigan delegation to the Republican National Convention taking place this week in Minnesota.
Cox, a Republican, also criticized Obama's vice presidential pick, longtime U.S. Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
"After hearing him talking about changing D.C.," Cox said Obama picked "a 35-year-old D.C. insider windbag in the Senate."
Cox is backing Republican presidential hopeful John McCain. The Arizona senator last week announced that first-term Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would be his running mate.
Unlike Obama, McCain "chose a citizen politician, not a career politician," Cox said.
Democrats have criticized Palin for what they call her limited national and foreign policy experience. Before elected governor two years ago, Palin was mayor of a small Alaska town.
