Mark Gibbons

CARSON CITY, Nev. (Legal Newsline)-The Nevada Supreme on Wednesday will Webcast oral arguments on petition challenges and state ballot questions, the court said.

Among challenges to be considered by the high court is a proposed November ballot measure that would divert hotel tax money from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority into schools' coffers.

The justices will also consider a challenge to a proposal that would a two-thirds vote to approve ballot measures that raise taxes.

The Supreme Court will be sitting in Carson City.

Chief Justice Mark Gibbons said the Webcast will allow courtroom access to everyone with a computer and an Internet connection.

"The Nevada Supreme Court knows that there is widespread public interest in the matters before us," Gibbons said. "Webcasting gives everyone in the state a chance to watch the proceedings."

Access to the Webcast will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on the Supreme Court's Web site http://www.nvsupremecourt.us.
