First ad to air in Missouri AG race

Chris Koster (D)

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline)-Democratic attorney general hopeful Chris Koster today released the first ad in the hard-fought Missouri AG race.

In the 30-second ad, the state legislator touts his experience as a prosecutor. Koster's served ten years as Cass County Prosecuting Attorney.

The Harrisonville Democrat says his time putting scofflaws behind bars makes him uniquely qualified to replace outgoing Democratic AG Jay Nixon, who is running for governor.

The ad, titled "Standing up for Everyone," will begin airing Monday in Kansas City and St. Louis, the Koster campaign said Sunday.

"When I stood up in front of a jury as Cass County Prosecutor, I was standing up for them. As Attorney General, I'll be standing up for everyone," he said in the ad.

Koster has said he is the only candidate in the race-Democrat or Republican-with any prosecutorial experience.

He won approximately 20 homicide convictions, two Supreme Court victories and thousands of felony convictions, a campaign statement said.

Koster is vying for the Democratic nomination, running against state Reps. Margaret Donnelly, D-Richmond Heights, and Jeff Harris, D-Columbia.

The Democratic nominee will face Senate President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons, R-Kirkwood, in the November general election.
