Chris Koster
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline)-Democratic Attorney General candidate Chris Koster has notched a major endorsement from a popular St. Louis congressman, his campaign said Sunday.
On Monday, U.S. Rep. Lacy Clay will formalize his endorsement of Koster at two public events in St. Louis.
Koster has also won endorsements from union groups and from Jim Hoffa, Jr., president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Koster is embroiled in an intense Democratic primary race against state Reps. Margaret Donnelly and Jeff Harris for the Democratic AG nomination.
Donnelly has been endorsed by the Communications Workers of America Local 6320 and by the Missouri State Council of the Service Employees International Union.
Harris won an endorsement late last month from Lt. Gov. Joe Maxwell, who said Harris is most able to defeat the Republican contender in November, Senate President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons, R-Kirkwood.
They are vying to replace Attorney General Jay Nixon, who is running for governor.
