McMaster
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Legal Newsline) - South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster can boast of a long list of accomplishments, and he may still be looking to add to it.
McMaster said Sunday he is mulling a run at Governor in 2010, making the statement at a campaign rally for Horry County Coroner Robert Edge.
According to a report in The State, McMaster said he would not make a formal decision after this year's round of elections when he was asked if he was running.
"That's not a 'no,'" he said, according to the report. "I'm giving it very careful consideration."
McMaster has been a U.S. Attorney, the first appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1981, and has four times been picked as chairman of the state's Republican party.
McMaster also gave a boost to Presidential-hopeful John McCain in South Carolina.
Two other state attorneys general currently have their names being thrown around similar rumor mills -- Richard Blumenthal in Connecticut and former Gov. Jerry Brown in California.
Virginia's Bob McDonnell and Missouri's Jay Nixon have officially announced their candidacy for Governor.
