LAWRENCE, Kan. (Legal Newsline) - Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced on Tuesday that he recently obtained a $2,000 order against a Douglas County auto dealer that allegedly violated the Kansas Consumer Protection Act.
Douglas County District Court Judge Robert Fairchild approved the consent judgment last week against the Eudora-based South Auto Sales and its owner, Salah Ibrahim. Fairchild ordered South Auto Sales and Ibrahim to reverse an automobile transaction and repay $2,065 to one consumer.
South Auto Sales allegedly required consumers buying an automobile on credit to sign a pre-printed repossession waiver form that violated consumer rights under the Kansas Consumer Protection Act and the Kansas Uniform Consumer Code.
As part of the agreement, South Auto Sales and Ibrahim agreed to repay Schmidt's office for attorney costs and to refrain from future violations of the Consumer Protection Act.
