AUSTIN, Texas (Legal Newsline) - More than a quarter of the money raised by Wendy Davis' gubernatorial campaign has raised has come from out-of-state donors.
The Democratic state senator is claiming 133,000 donors have donated to her campaign for a total of $16 million in contributions raised, according to The Associated Press.
The AP is reporting that more than one in every four dollars donated to Davis has come from out-of-state donors.
As previously reported, Attorney General Greg Abbott, the Republican nominee, and his campaign have been openly critical of Davis' out-of-state fundraising trips.
Two weeks ago, Davis emailed supporters, notifying them she was only a few thousand dollars shy of reaching her $350,000 goal for the month of May.
Texas campaign finance reports are due July 15.
No Democrat has been elected to a Texas state office in 20 years.
