MANCHESTER, N.H. (Legal Newsline) - In his quest to reclaim a U.S. Senate seat, the Scott Brown campaign on Monday released a video touting his military service and support from veterans.
Brown, the former Republican senator from Massachusetts, announced his candidacy in April, joining a packed group of New Hampshire Republicans looking to unseat Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
The video, entitled "Proud To Serve," was released n the day before Col. Brown's retirement from the Army National Guard and features veterans talking about why they're backing Brown.
"We need Scott Brown in the United States Senate because he is one of us," one veteran says in the video.
Another veteran adds that if elected, "Scott brown would be faithful to America's veterans and all the citizens here in New Hampshire."
Brown's military background has earned him the votes of several military members, states a May 12 campaign press release.
"I have advocated and done everything in my power to make sure that we provide the tools and resources for our men and women who are serving to do their jobs, do them well, and come home safely," says Brown in the video.
"And then when they come home, to make sure they have the resources and tools to make sure they get better quickly if they need that assistance, to get reemployed quickly."
Along with his 35 years of military service, Brown fought to address key issues affecting the veteran community while serving in the Senate, including the Hire A Hero Act that encouraged businesses to hire unemployed veterans and the Stolen Valor Act that cracked down on people who falsified their military credentials, the press release states.
