WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline) -- A Washington D.C.-based law firm has hired two attorneys, one a former patent judge, to help form its new intellectual property practice group.
Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca LLP has hired Bradford Kile, former head of Baker & McKenzie's D.C. intellectual property practice and patent judge for the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and Yifei "Evelyn" Li, a Chinese law expert.
In addition to serving as a patent judge, Kile also worked as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
He also taught patent appellate practice at George Mason University Law School for 15 years.
Li trained in legal analysis of international IP and competition issues at the Beijing Foreign Studies University Law School and worked for a district judge in Wuhan, China, as well as a large domestic law firm in Beijing.
She has interned for Chief Judge Randall Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
They will join CGL's Joel Davidow, who once served as chief of the Foreign Commerce Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, as the group's core.
Davidow, the firm's expert in patent-antitrust interface issues, has lectured in a dozen countries on IP law/competition law tensions.
He also has taught at Columbia University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University and George Mason University Law School, and authored multi-edition books on international antitrust and patent misconduct issues.
Kile will head the IP practice group, the law firm said in a statement Thursday.
