HOUSTON (Legal Newsline) - Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC has officially endorsed the election of Justice Jeff Brown to the Texas Supreme Court.

TLRPAC released a press release announcing the endorsement Jan. 22.

Gov. Rick Perry appointed Brown, a Republican, to the Texas Supreme Court in 2013.

"Justice Jeff Brown brings a record of excellence and achievement to the Supreme Court," said TLRPAC Chairman Richard J. Trabulsi, Jr.

"Justice Brown has both considerable appellate experience and an extensive body of legal scholarship. State and local bar polls have consistently named him one of the highest rated jurists in Texas and he has quickly proved to be a great asset to our well-respected Texas Supreme Court. TLRPAC is proud to endorse his re-election."

Before his appointment to the Texas Supreme Court, Brown served on the Houston 14th Court of Appeals and as Judge of the 55th District Court in Houston.

Brown was appointed to the Supreme Court multidistrict litigation panel in 2009 and was the presiding judge of the Harris County STAR drug court, aimed at helping young drug offenders.

Brown has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Houston Law Center and is the co-author of the Texas Rules of Evidence Handbook. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas and his law degree, with high honors, from the University of Houston.

TLRPAC is the political arm of Texans for Lawsuit Reform, the state's largest civil justice reform organization.
