ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Legal Newsline) -- The Maryland Republican Party may have a candidate for state attorney general.
The Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday that Richard Douglas, a lawyer, businessman and Iraq veteran, said he is considering a run.
"I'm doing a gut check," he told the newspaper, saying he is truly undecided.
Four Democrats have filed to run for the office, looking to replace current Attorney General Doug Gansler, who is running for governor.
State Sen. Brian Frosh was the first to file papers to run. State Delegate Jon Cardin filed his papers soon after.
Also filing: delegates C. William Frick and Aisha Braveboy.
Douglas, who ran unsuccessfully in 2012 for the GOP nomination for a U.S. Senate seat, would be the first Republican to be elected to the Attorney General's Office since 1918.
Maryland's primary is June 24, 2014.
