Iowa AG to seek ninth term

Miller

DES MOINES, Iowa (Legal Newsline) -- Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller announced Wednesday he plans to seek a ninth term as the state's top lawyer in 2014.

Miller, a Democrat, is the longest continuously serving attorney general in the nation, currently serving his eighth four-year term. He was first elected in 1978.

"This is my passion and my zeal... It has never been lost and it is there for everybody to see," Miller told reporters at a news conference, according to the Des Moines Register.

The attorney general rejected arguments that he has been in office too long, the newspaper reported.

In 2010, Miller overcame Republican challenger Brenna Findley, who significantly outspent him in the days leading up to the election.
