JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) -- Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster reached an agreement Wednesday with Kendallwood Hospice Company to return funds that were held for a Kansas City-area veterans organization.
On Oct. 3, Koster filed a lawsuit against Kendallwood Hospice Company for allegedly refusing to return donations belonging to Honor Flight Network of Kansas City Inc.
Honor Flight Network collects contributions to help World War II veterans and terminally ill veterans from the Korean and Vietnam Wars see their memorials.
Kendallwood agreed to hold donations for Honor Flight Network, which planned to use the funds to pay for veterans to visit memorials in Washington.
Under the terms of the agreement, Kendallwood will return the full amount of donations it is holding to the national Honor Flight Network office. The amount of donations totals $38,282.32.
Kendallwood also will provide bank statements to Koster's office to ensure that all Honor Flight Network donations were accounted for and returned.
The funds will be used for Kansas City-area veterans.
"Honor Flight has the noble mission of transporting veterans to see their memorials in Washington," Koster said in a statement. "I am pleased that we were able to resolve this dispute so that these Honor Flight donations can help Kansas City veterans as they were intended."
