ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Legal Newsline) -- Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler officially kicked off his campaign for governor this week.

On Tuesday, the two-term attorney general launched a statewide announcement tour across the street from the Montgomery County Courthouse. Gansler served as the state's attorney for the county from 1999 to 2007.

His campaign tour will include 16 stops throughout the state.

"We will travel to every region in the state to talk with Marylanders and share our vision for building our best Maryland," Gansler said earlier this month.

Gansler has yet to name his running mate. He is expected to make an announcement by early October.

Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown and state Delegate Heather Mizeur also are seeking the Democratic nomination for governor.

Brown selected his running mate, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, in June.

All three are looking to take over for current Gov. Martin O'Malley, who is term-limited.
