KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Legal Newsline) -- Tennessee Attorney General Bob Cooper reportedly is conducting a "fairness review" of a proposed settlement of multiple lawsuits filed against Pilot Flying J.
The Knoxville-based travel center operator allegedly defrauded truckers out of millions through its fuel rebate program.
"We have received the proposed class-action settlement involving Pilot Flying J, and we are reviewing using the same standards that apply to all other cases reviewed by the office," spokeswoman Sharon Curtis-Flair told The Tennessean last week.
According to the newspaper, some of the affected trucking companies are not happy with the proposed settlement, filed in a federal district court in Arkansas.
The deal would give customers 100 percent of any money owed, with 6 percent interest.
The attorney general's review is mandated under the federal Class Action Fairness Act, and must be completed by Oct. 25.
