Report: Okla. AG announces re-election bid

Pruitt

OKLAHOMA CITY (Legal Newsline) -- Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt says he will seek re-election in 2014.

Pruitt, a Republican, was a state senator from 1998 to 2006. In 2010, he was elected as the state's top lawyer.

The Tulsa World first reported Pruitt's decision to run for re-election Monday.

Pruitt said energy executive Harold Hamm will serve as his campaign chairman.

"It has been the experience of a lifetime to serve as Oklahoma's attorney general over these past three years. And, today, I am so pleased to be kicking off my 2014 re-election campaign with the announcement that Harold Hamm has graciously agreed to serve as our chairman," the attorney general said in a statement.

"Harold Hamm is a dedicated businessman, visionary and icon here in Oklahoma. Harold embodies the leadership, integrity and diligence that will define my re-election campaign. I am honored to have Harold Hamm as a part of my 2014 team."

Hamm is currently the CEO of Continental Resources, one of the top petroleum liquids producers in the United States.

In his first three years as attorney general, Pruitt has filed challenges to President Barack Obama's federal health care law and the Environmental Protection Agency's air quality regulations, most notably.
