Report: Former Ala. AG's new business is promoting bingo game

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Legal Newsline) -- Former Alabama Attorney General Troy King is now in the business of promoting bingo games.

According to AL.com, King is the creator and president of a company called Innovate! Technologies Group LLC. The company is behind a new bingo game called O-craps!

"It looks like a craps game, but it's bingo balls, bingo cards, daubing. It's bingo," he told AL.com over the weekend.

King described his new venture as a hobby, saying in the report that his Montgomery law practice is his "primary business focus."

King was appointed by then-Gov. Bob Riley in 2004, when Attorney General William Pryor resigned to accept a federal judgeship.

He then defeated Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson, Jr., in the 2006 election.

In 2010, he lost the GOP primary to now-Attorney General Luther Strange, who Riley endorsed.

King's defeat often has been attributed to a courtroom loss to Riley over a highly-publicized dispute involving electronic bingo games.

Riley argued that electronic bingo machines are illegal slot machines, while King countered that the machines may be legal.

In its 2010 ruling, the Alabama Supreme Court allowed Riley's task force to challenge the legality of Lowndes County's White Hall Entertainment Center's electronic bingo games, regardless of King's approval or disapproval.

In light of the ruling, King told AL.com that the market for the O-craps! game is mostly out of state.
