U.S. Supreme Court won't hear airline rate case

Spiritair

WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline) - The U.S. Supreme Court will not hear a case regarding a federal government rule forcing airlines to advertise the full cost of their tickets.

Allegiant, Southwest and Spirit airlines had challenged the U.S. Department of Justice rule that says airlines can't leave taxes and fees out of advertised rates. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit had upheld that rule in July.

But the airlines contend the rule infringes on their free speech rights.
