JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Legal Newsline) - Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against a California security alarm company that allegedly made sales phone calls to Missourians on the state's no-call list.
Maximum Security Alarm Inc. allegedly tried to sell Missourians home security services after reaching them by phone.
Koster's lawsuit requests that the court stop the company from calling Missouri residents on the no-call list. The lawsuit also seeks civil penalties for the violations and attorney costs.
"The attorney general's office will continue to pursue companies that violate our telemarketing and phone solicitation laws," Koster said. "Missourians subscribe to our no-call list to avoid being harassed by telemarketers, and this office will aggressively enforce the law."
Missourians are able to sign up for the no-call list on the attorney general's website or by calling its office. Residents can also register their cell phones on the list.
