Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster reached an agreement last week with Kim Bascom and several of his Springfield-based telemarketing companies to resolve allegations that they violated the Missouri No Call and Telemarketing law.
The settlement stems from a lawsuit filed last year against Branson Vacation Land LLC, The Buzz Marketing and Communications and owner Kim Bascom for placing sales calls to more than 250,000 Missouri residents on the No Call list. The calls were placed during a six-month period in 2012.
The agreement permanently bans Bascom's companies from performing telemarketing campaigns in the state. If any further violations occur, Bascom will be responsible for up to $175,000 in fines, plus all court costs.
"Over a six month period, these companies together accounted for over 1,000 illegal telemarketing calls a day to Missourians on the no call list," Koster said. "This agreement keeps these calls out of our state with hefty penalties for any violation."
