The owner of an Oklahoma paving company has been ordered to pay a $100,000 fine and $13,300 in restitution for violating consumer protection laws, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced on Tuesday.
Will J. Harrison Jr., owner of Wester Construction and Will Harrison Paving, allegedly used misleading and unfair sales practices while making door-to-door sales calls.
The default judgment was entered in Shawnee County District Court by Judge Rebecca Crotty.
“Consumers should be on the lookout for these fly-by-night operations looking to make a quick buck,” Schmidt said. “Kansans who are in need of driveway repairs should seek out local, reputable contractors and get multiple written estimates before having any work done.”
