Dabney Carr, a Richmond, Virginia-based partner in Troutman Pepper’s national Intellectual Property Practice Group, has been named to Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s Class of 2024 Hall of Fame, which honors distinguished Virginia lawyers who have been in practice for at least 30 years.

Criteria for inclusion in the Hall of Fame include career accomplishments, contributions to the development of the law in Virginia, contributions to the bar and to the Commonwealth at large, and efforts to improve the quality of justice in Virginia.

Carr helps clients resolve their most complex disputes, especially in the areas of patent infringement, product liability, and environmental litigation. His broad litigation background and trial experience make him an effective courtroom advocate and a pragmatic strategic advisor. Carr is particularly known for his experience in the “rocket docket” of the Eastern District of Virginia, which is regarded as the fastest-moving court in the country.

Outside his highly successful legal practice, Carr is a recognized leader, serving as an elected member of the Virginia State Bar Council. He also has served as chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Virginia State Bar and as chair of the Council of the Civil Litigation Section of the Virginia Bar Association. He is active in his community, especially on issues of education, serving as a volunteer tutor in the Richmond Public Schools, as a pro bono counsel to the first charter elementary school in Virginia, and as a gubernatorial appointee to a committee studying innovation in K-12 education.

Carr will be featured in an upcoming edition of Virginia Lawyers Weekly.

Troutman Pepper’s nationally recognized Intellectual Property Practice provides the complete range of services for patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets and assists clients with litigation and dispute resolution, licensing, and other transactions.
