Polsinelli Further Strengthens Public Policy and Health Care Groups with Addition of Experienced Health Policy Advisor Shelagh Foster

H

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli is pleased to welcome Shelagh Foster as a Senior Policy Advisor in the firm's Public Policy and Health Care Practice Groups. Foster brings two decades of proven success in federal and state policy and advocacy strategy and execution, with significant expertise in current and emerging health care policy issues.

The addition of Foster to Polsinelli’s Public Policy team is part of the strategic expansion of the group and continued focus in this area. She follows the addition of Rachel Feinstein as a Legislative Director earlier this year, as well as the announcement that Harry Sporidis was named as Chair of the Public Policy practice.

Foster previously served as the Division Director of Policy & Advocacy for the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), where she expanded and increased the effectiveness of the organization's policy agenda, federal and state legislative and regulatory work, coalition engagement, grassroots outreach, and state affiliate activities

"The policy and advocacy expertise that Shelagh has at the federal and state levels further strengthens the outstanding team we currently have in place," said Harry Sporidis, Chair of Polsinelli's Public Policy Group. "I have seen her work first hand, and am thrilled that she will be working with us and utilizing her significant knowledge and insights to further the goals and agendas of our current clients and future clients.”

"Over the course of her extensive career in government relations, Shelagh has shown an amazing ability to find and create legislative, regulatory and policy solutions for health care providers in a variety of areas, including reimbursement, enforcement, and regulation," said Matthew J. Murer, Department Chair of Polsinelli's National Health Care Practice. "She is a welcome addition to not only the Public Policy Group but to the entire health care team.  Our clients will greatly benefit from her expertise and experience."

Foster is experienced in developing and launching an array of advocacy programs, including state advocacy programs, grassroots programs, and political action committees. During her time with ASCO, she also optimized all policy and advocacy mechanisms to advance ASCO's goals, explicitly achieving passage of the CLINICAL Treatment Act, increased engagement on drug pricing issues, refinement of state opioid laws, and deeming for clinical data registries.

"I am excited to join the Public Policy team at Polsinelli and work with this established group of public policy experts," said Shelagh Foster.

Foster received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and her B.A. in Political Science from St. Michael's College.

Foster joins Polsinelli’s nationally recognized Health Care Department, which represents one of the largest concentrations of health care attorneys and professionals in the nation. Recognized as a leader in health care law, Polsinelli’s Health Care Department was recently named the largest Health Care Law Firm by the American Healthcare Lawyers Association (AHLA) for 2021 and earned a Tier One ranking in Health Care Law by U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Law Firm’s” each year since 2014.
