BAKER HOSTETLER: BakerHostetler Adds Longtime FinTech Privacy Lawyer as Partner in D.C.

Partnership

Baker and Hostetler issued the following announcement on Jan. 22.

BakerHostetler announced the addition of Eulonda G. Skyles to its privacy and data protection team, where she will bring decades of experience providing strategic advice on privacy matters to technology companies and financial institutions. She joins the firm from Capital One, where she served as associate general counsel for privacy and data security.

Skyles has counseled financial institutions, software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies, e-commerce companies, and other fintech and traditional technology entities on data privacy and intellectual property matters as both an outside and in-house counsel. In addition to serving first as associate general counsel for IP litigation and then for privacy and data security at Capital One, Skyles also served as litigation counsel at Yahoo!.

Skyles offers strategic advice for entities looking to protect company and customer data in compliance with federal and state privacy laws such as GLBA, HIPAA, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and TSR. She also assists clients negotiating complex, cross-border technology agreements, paying particularly close attention to compliance matters and creating systems to safely share, store, and recover intellectual property and other personal data assets. She regularly speaks at conferences and on panels on a wide range of privacy and technology issues.

“Our clients demand boutique-style service along with a broad and knowledgeable team that can handle anything thrown at them,” said Theodore J. Kobus, leader of the firm’s privacy and data protection team. “Eulonda’s extensive experience working in Silicon Valley and at Capital One increases our ability to provide for exactly that need, particularly with technology and financial services clients.”

Skyles received her J.D. from Stanford University Law School and her B.A. from Cornell University.

“I’m thrilled to join the esteemed privacy and data protection team at BakerHostetler,” Skyles said. “I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge with the team and using our combined capabilities to shape the way leading-edge technology and financial institutions adapt and respond to today’s privacy landscape.”
