LOS ANGELES (Legal Newsline) — A consumer has filed a class action lawsuit against Unilever, alleging fraud and negligent misrepresentation.
Craig Hain filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, May 15 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Conopco Inc., doing business as Unilever, alleging false representations regarding ingredients used on their beauty care products.
According to the complaint, Hain was damaged from purchasing shampoo, conditioner body wash products advertised as natural despite having synthetic ingredients. The plaintiff alleges a Unilever used the term natural on its products despite knowing it contains unnatural and synthetic ingredients.
Hain seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, injunctive relief, restitution, disgorgement, attorney fees and all other relief the court deems just and proper.
