Personal injury attorney to lead trial lawyers' group

Anthony Tarricone

SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline)-The nation's largest trial lawyer trade group is now led by personal injury attorney Anthony Tarricone of Hamilton, Mass., his law firm announced Thursday.

Tarricone, a partner at the aviation law firm of Kreindler & Kreindler LLP, was elected as president of the American Association for Justice on Wednesday at the organization's annual meeting in San Francisco.

The group, formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, works to expand product and medical liability laws and opposes tort reform efforts.

In the statement, the law firm said as AAJ president, Tarricone will work to ensure that those "injured by the misconduct and gross negligence of others can get justice in the courtroom, even when that means taking on the most powerful interests."

"Our number one priority is to ensure that people consistently have a fair chance to receive justice through the nation's legal system whenever they suffer from the misconduct or gross negligence of others," Tarricone said. "All Americans benefit when justice is served."

In his law practice, Tarricone litigates wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases involving aircraft accidents and disasters, in addition to handling cases involving defective products and medical negligence.

Tarricone is a past president of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. He is a member of the National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association and the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association.

He succeeds Les Weisbrod as AAJ president. Weisbrod, a medical malpractice attorney, is a partner in the Dallas law firm of Miller, Curtis & Weisbrod.
