Attorneys general support upholding ban on deceptive TurboTax advertising
PHOENIX – Attorney General Kris Mayes this week joined a coalition of 22 attorneys general in filing a brief supporting a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) order that bars Intuit, the maker of TurboTax, from deceptively advertising “free” tax preparation software when its services were not actually free for most consumers. In a brief filed in Intuit v. Federal Trade Commission, the attorneys general argue that the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit should reject an appeal filed by Intuit and uphold the FTC’s order.

Greenville man arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse material
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Joshua Matthew Thomas, 18, of Greenville, S.C., on three charges connected to the sexual exploitation of minors. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office made the arrest. Investigators with the Attorney General's Office, also a member of the state's ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigation.

The Attorney General’s Office announced that Giselle Fichter (charged as Jarrod Fichter), 35, of Bellows Falls, Vermont, was sentenced today in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, after pleading guilty to one felony count of possession of child sexual abuse material. Attorney General Bonta issues cease-and-desist letters over unlawful ultrasound practices
California Attorney General Rob Bonta has issued cease and desist letters to two entities, Cali Choice and LivingHelp Center, regarding their compliance with AB 1720 (Bauer-Kahan). This law mandates that ultrasound technology and similar devices be used only in licensed facilities or by licensed providers. In his letter, the Attorney General emphasized that if these entities are not compliant with AB 1720, they must immediately halt all ultrasound procedures.
Kincheloe woman pleads no contest to murder and arson charges
