LOCKE LORD LLP: Locke Lord Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Paulette Brown Honored as Hall of Fame Inductee by National Bar Association

Award

Locke Lord LLP issued the following announcement on July 25.

Paulette Brown, Locke Lord’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, has been inducted into the National Bar Association (NBA)’s prestigious Fred David Gray Hall of Fame for her significant contributions to the cause of justice. Brown — renowned for her groundbreaking work on behalf of diversity and inclusion, professional achievements and community contributions — accepted the honor during the NBA’s 94th Annual Convention.

Brown, a former President of the NBA and the first woman of color to lead the American Bar Association (ABA), is a Senior Partner based in Locke Lord’s Princeton office. Throughout her career, she has held a number of positions, including in-house counsel to a number of Fortune 500 companies and Municipal Court Judge.

She is nationally known for speaking out to eliminate bias in the U.S. legal system and advocating for the advancement of diverse lawyers, including women. At the start of her term as ABA President, Brown formed the ABA’s Diversity and Inclusion 360 Commission that examined the state of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, the judicial system and the ABA with the aim of formulating methods, policies, standards and practices to best advance diversity and inclusion. She was influential in the creation, passage and implementation of ABA’s Resolution 113, which aims to promote diversity within law firms and urges clients to expand opportunities for diverse lawyers.

Among her many honors, Brown has been recognized by the New Jersey Law Journal as one of the prominent women and minority attorneys in the state of New Jersey and by the National Law Journal as one of “The 50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America.” Last year, she was selected by the Executive Women of New Jersey as a Salute Honoree for advancing the cause of women’s leadership.
